Amazon drops price of Kindle Fire HD 7 in US, UK & Italy - Northern Voices Online

By Parwinder Sandhu

This is a great news for many people who were planning to buy a good tablet. Amazon has dropped price of Kindle Fire HD 7 in US, UK and Italy. The news is all the more enticing for people who are Amazon fans and love to use contents from the company in a big way. Now with the price of Kindle Fire HD slashed, the small, 7-inch tablet will get a lot more enticing compared to its competitors in the market.

In a bid to increase the sale of its Kindle Fire HD 7 “tablet, Amazon cut down the price of the gadget in United Kingdom by £ 20 and other European countries such as France, Germany and Italy by € 30. The tablet is now priced at £ 139 in the UK and € 169 in the European countries.

The 12 percent slash has followed a similar cut in US market a few days ago. Apart from a jump a in the sales, the discount has created a pressure on the rivals book retailer Barnes & Noble, which too has cut down the prices of its 7-inch NOOK HD slate by £ 99 in the UK.

Though the company has remained mum about the price cut down of Kindle it is being believed that Amazon was either not satisfied with current sales, or wanted to clear out its existing stock so that a new product can be launched. Earlier the company while revealing about the sales of its tablets just mentioned that it had captured 22 percent of tablet sales in the US during its launch period.

In May Amazon had reduced the prices of 7-inch Kindle Fire HD to $ 179 (16GB) and $ 209 (32GB) for the US market. Apart from the 7 “tablet, the company had also reduced the prices of the 8.9-inch variant to $ 269. At present the 8.9-inch variant of the Kindle Fire HD tablet is still being sold at the old £ 229 in the United Kingdom and € 269 throughout the rest of Europe.
