Amazon pushed an iOS 7 app update out this week that users should make sure to install before the iOS 7 release unless they want to re-download all of their books.
This isn’t the first iOS 7 app update to arrive, and it won’t be the last one we see over the next week and a half. We expect other developers are putting final touches on versions of their apps that work with the iOS 7 update Apple is showing off at a new iPhone and iOS 7 event on Tuesday.
Many of these early iOS 7 app updates could be focused on making sure users can still use the app, rather than on adding new features and a completely new look to match the new iOS 7 design.

Over the weekend Amazon pushed a Kindle update out to users who are on iOS 6, that is a must install before upgrading to iOS 7 later this month. Amazon warns users to update to Kindle 3.9.2 describing the new Kindle iPhone and iPad app as follows,
This is a fix for a Kindle issue with the upcoming iOS7 OS upgrade that may cause customers to have to re-register and re-download books from Amazon. Please download and install – this is a required update before upgrading to iOS7.
Apple is expected to announce the iOS 7 release date later today at a special event at the Apple headquarters in California. The company announced iOS 7 at WWDC 2013 in June, and it is currently in the sixth beta, allowing carriers, partners and developers like Amazon to test apps for iOS 7.
We anticipate an iOS 7 GM release to arrive directly after the event, where Apple could show off several new iOS 7 features it did not announce earlier this year or include in iOS 7 betas. This could include special iPhone 5S features not coming to the iPhone 5, iPhone 4S or iPhone 4.
The iOS 7 release date is not expected at the event, but we do expect the iOS 7 release date is set for September 18th, when it will come to the iPhone, iPod touch and very likely the iPad.
Apple is also set to announce a new iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C at the event, both with 4-inch Retina Displays. The iPhone 5S is expected to come with a fingerprint sensor and a design similar to the iPhone 5 while the iPhone 5C is expected to arrive in multiple plastic color options at a lower price.
The iPhone 5C and iPhone 5S release are confirmed for September 20th by multiple sources.
