If you had been thinking about buying a Kindle from Amazon.com as, say, a Christmas present, well today, Monday, Nov. 4, might be the day to do that.
Of course, you could wait until tomorrow … Or any other day for that matter. But if you do, you’re going to miss out on a special one-day sale on most Kindle models. And you can thank the Federal Aviation Administration for Amazon giving you a 15% discount on the Kindle Fire HD, Kindle Fire HDX 7-inch model, and the $ 69 Kindle today.
Amazon / quotes/zigman/63011/delayed / quotes / nls / amzn AMZN said it would give the special one-day discount Monday as a way to thank the FAA for lifting restrictions on the use of portable electronic devices during the take offs and landings of commercial flights in the US
“We’ve been fighting for our customers on this issue for years, and we are thrilled by the FAA’s recent decision,” said Amazon vice president Drew Herdener in a statement. “This is a big win for customers.”
So, if you don’t want to do the math yourself, here’s how the one-day-15%-discount will affect your Kindle purchase:
-The Kindle Fire HDX 7-inch will cost $ 195, down from $ 229.
-The Kindle Fire HD costs $ 118, as opposed to its regular price of $ 139.
-The basic Kindle e-reader goes from $ 69 to $ 59.
And in order to get the discount today, you have to say “Thanks” to the FAA, by entering the promo code “ThnksFAA” at the time of checkout.
