Amazon has begun shipping its new seven-inch tablet the Kindle Fire HDX.

The new model, announced earlier this month, starts at $ 229 with 16 Gigabytes of memory and Wi-Fi. (Other models priced at $ 269 and $ 309 have 32GB and 64GB, respectively.)

“With a beautiful 323 ppi (pixels per inch) perfect-color HDX display, three times the processing power, two times the memory, four times the graphics performance, and Fire OS 3.0, we think customers are going to love the new Kindle Fire HDX, “said Peter Larsen, Amazon’s Kindle vice president in a statement. “We can’t wait to get this tablet into our customers’ hands.”

Consumers can order the new Kindle Fire HDX on Amazon.com. Next month, on Nov. 14, Amazon releases a model with a 4G cellular option starting at $ 329 and an 8.9-inch Wi-Fi model starting at $ 379.

The new tablets incorporate a live tech-support innovation called Mayday, which USA TODAY’s Edward C. Baig called “the real killer differentiator in the Fire HDX tablets.” When a user doesn’t know how to do something, they an on-screen Mayday button to connect with free tech support.
