HOMEWOOD, Alabama – The Homewood Police Department is reporting that a home burglary occurred on Sunday, Oct. 13 during the hours of 9 am and 11:45 am in the 900 block of Saulter Road.

The burglar (s) gained entry into the home by forcing open a rear patio door.

Items stolen from the house include a laptop, Kindle and iPad.

According to Homewood Police, an older grey Cadillac with damage to the front grill was seen in the neighborhood’s vicinity at the time of the burglary. The vehicle, they said, was occupied by two males.

Anyone with information regarding the burglary is asked to contact Homewood Detective Keith Peterson at 205-332-6234.

Homewood Police remind residents that should they see any suspicious person or vehicle in their neighborhood, they are encouraged to call 911.

In a previous interview with AL.com, Police Chief Jim Roberson explained that it’s the community residents who can do the most to prevent cases such as these.

“They are the eyes and ears of the police department,” said Roberson. “I’m a firm believer in neighborhood watch. I’d like to have them all over Homewood and I think most Police Chiefs would mirror that sentiment.”

Residents should not hesitate to call police if they believe something is wrong, he said, because after all, maintaining the safety of their community is what they’re paid to do.
