AVG Technologies Releases New Apps for Latest Kindle Devices - PR Newswire (press release)

AMSTERDAM and SAN FRANCISCO , Feb. 24, 2014 / PRNewswire / – AVG Technologies NV (NYSE: AVG), the online security company for 177 million active users, today announced the availability of three new free apps for the latest Amazon ® Kindle Fire HDX tablet to make sure users get an improved experience from their devices.

AVG PrivacyFix ™ helps users see at glance their personal privacy settings and make any adjustments in response to changes in the privacy settings of popular social networks like Facebook ® and Google ®. Device performance improvement apps AVG Uninstaller and AVG Battery Saver & TuneUp guide users on the apps that are rarely used and provide help to remove them, boost battery life, and keep track of data and storage usage. All apps are free to download from the Amazon Appstore.

“AVG has been expanding its range of Android security, privacy and performance offerings in the last few years as the number of Android-based devices on the market has increased exponentially. We are delighted to have the opportunity to create authentic apps that are tailored to specific devices like Amazon’s Kindle Fire HDX, “said Omri Sigelman , VP of Marketing and Sales, AVG Technologies. “Ultimately, our goal is to deliver a great experience for Amazon users that supports and enhances their everyday online activities.”

AVG PrivacyFix
In the ever-changing world of social sites, AVG PrivacyFix helps users navigate the online privacy settings of their favorite social networks such as Facebook, Google ™ or LinkedIn ™. It provides users with an instant view of their social profile status, flags potential concerns and proposes easy-to-understand fixes from one single dashboard. These could include, for example, preventing friends’ apps from accessing their personal data, getting rid of old apps no longer used, and helping control personal information shared on social sites. It also helps users select to opt out of targeted advertising on the sites they visit.

AVG Uninstaller
AVG Uninstaller monitors apps that have been downloaded onto Amazon’s Kindle Fire HDX tablet to assess the frequency of their use, size, battery usage and data usage . Based on this, it suggests to users which ones could be removed and helps to uninstall those selected for deletion in an easy step. The monitoring feature also notifies users regularly when apps haven’t been used in a while and alerts them of possible performance hogs. This helps to improve performance and battery life from the Kindle Fire HDX device.

AVG Battery Saver & TuneUp
AVG’s popular performance and battery life optimize, AVG Battery Saver & TuneUp, is now also available for Amazon’s Kindle Fire HDX tablet . The free app helps users improve performance and battery life by optimizing settings and turning off power-hungry background apps with just a few taps. Additionally, its storage manager shows storage hogging apps, so that users can choose to free up space for more music, photos, video and data that’s more important.

In AVG internal tests with the Kindle Fire HDX, AVG found that by uninstalling wasteful apps, turning off features such as Wi-Fi and Bluetooth and especially lowering brightness with AVG Battery Saver & TuneUp and AVG Uninstaller , battery life could be improved while playing games by up to 22 percent, and web browsing time increased by up to 74 percent. More results and details are available on our blog.

AVG PrivacyFix, AVG Uninstaller and AVG Battery Saver & TuneUp are now available for the Amazon Kindle Fire HDX free of charge from the Amazon Appstore.
