Amazon Kindle Fire 2 2013 leaked image suggests release date nears - Examiner.com

Amazon has a few Kindle Fire tablets in the works. A new leaked press photo of the 2013 Kindle Fire 2 suggests that a few next generation Kindle Fire tablets may be announced soon.

As reported by PC advisor Monday (Sep. 16), @ evleaks, notorious for leaking info, tweeted a press promo image of the upcoming 7-inch Kindle Fire 2 Sunday (Sep. 15). Not to be confused with the higher end 2013 Kindle Fire HD tablet, the leaked photo is believed the be of the non-HD version.

Rumored specs for the 2013 Kindle Fire 2 suggest that the tablet will have a 7-inch display resolution of 1280 x 800 and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 quad-core processor. The tablet is also expected to sport Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean out of the gate and come in variants of 8GB, 16GB and 32GB of internal storage.

The boost in hardware specs on the 2013 Kindle Fire 2, if accurate, is significant in comparison to it’s predecessor. The current 7-inch Kindle Fire tablet has a display resolution of 1024 x 600 and houses a dual-core processor.

The Kindle Fire 2 is just one of three of anticipated tablets from Amazon according to rumors. Also expected to join the Kindle Fire series are the 2013 Kindle Fire HD 2 and a larger sized, 2013 Kindle Fire HD 2 8.9-inch tablet.

Amazon may keep the price of the 2013 Kindle Fire 2 the same as it’s current tablets, starting from $ 159 to $ 269. The new Kindle series would go up against the new 2013 Nexus 7 tablet priced at $ 229 for the 16GB and $ 269 for the 32GB variant. Rumors speculate a release date between September and October for the 2013 Kindle Fire tablets.
