Amazon, which launched its India website last week, said the Kindle and Kindle Paperwhite will be available on its online shop beginning today. E-books are now being sold on the company’s India site. More than a hundred retailers in major Indian cities will be carrying the Kindle Fire beginning June 27.

The six-inch, fifth-generation Kindle has a suggested price of 5,999 rupees ($ 104), while the high-end Kindle Paperwhite wi-fi only version will be sold at 10,999 rupees. The wi-fi and 3G Paperwhite reader is priced at 13,999 rupees. The Kindle Fire and Kindle Fire HD will be priced at 15,999 rupees and 21,999 rupees, respectively.

India is one of the fastest growing markets for smartphones. Industry experts forecast smartphone sales to reach 33 million units, up from about 20 million units, in 2013.

Starting today and for the next two weeks, customers in India can download one best-selling Kindle Book each day for free, the company said in a statement.
