Amazon Kindle Fire HD to include Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 CPU - The Full Signal

Amazon’s new Kindle Fire HD is rumored to include Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 800 CPU. It’s not the first we’ve heard of the popular processor being aboard the next Kindle Fire HD tablets, but now we’re seeing a little more proof.

  • Amazon’s new Kindle Fire HD specs leak online

According to benchmark results at WebTrek and GFXBench, the upcoming 8.9-inch Kindle Fire HD will use the super popular (and super fast) CPU, clocked at 2.15GHz.

The larger Kindle Fire HD is also rumored to feature an improved screen over its predecessor at 2560 x 1600, along with 2GB of RAM and the usual storage options including 16GB, 32GB or 64GB.

Amazon’s 7-inch Kindle Fire HD is believed to include the same speedy processor, and could also get a bump in the resolution department from 1280 x 800 to 1920 x 1200. You can also expect 2GB of RAM, a front-facing camera and the same storage options with the smaller tablet.

Both models will probably run on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean, despite the fact that Google’s latest Android 4.3 version is already running on a number of devices. However, Amazon’s own custom UI will be present, too.

Amazon has yet to announce any official details regarding its upcoming tablets, but current rumors point to a holiday release – just in time to fill those shopping bags. It should be noted that Apple is also expected to release its next-gen iPad mini soon. The iPad mini 2 is said to include Apple’s popular Retina Display tech and could launch during the same time as the new Kindle Fire HD slates.

Not only will Amazon be competing with Apple’s next iPad mini, but it will also have to keep up with Google’s already released new Nexus 7, which also sports better resolution at an affordable price point.

While we’re waiting to hear more about Amazon’s Kindle Fire HD, let us know what you think in the comments below. Which new tablet are you planning to buy this year?
