Amazon will reportedly launch next-gen Kindle Fire tablet this fall

According to some recent reports, including one from BGR, Amazon is planning to launch its next-generation Kindle Fire tablet – the third-generation Kindle Fire – this fall. The tablet will probably mark a substantial improvement over its predecessor, and will be more similar to Kindle Fire HD than the previous models.

The BGR report, citing information shared by unidentified sources, has revealed that the chipset aboard the new Kindle Fire will be a 1.5GHz dual-core Texas Instruments OMAP4 4470 processor with PowerVR SGX544 graphics — the same chipset which presently powers the Kindle Fire HD lineup.

In addition, the new Kindle Fire will also feature a higher resolution screen which, at 1280 x 800, will be similar to the display of the existing Fire HD tablet.

Moreover, as per the BGR publication, the new Kindle Fire will also have 1GB of RAM, just like the current Kindle Fire; though it will run the Android OS 4.2.2 `Jelly Bean ‘version.

The cost of the entry-level 8GB new Kindle Fire tablet will also remain unchanged – at $ 159 – from that of the current Kindle Fire model. However, it is speculated that Amazon will also seemingly offer 16GB and 32GB versions of the new Kindle Fire at undisclosed price points.
